Featuring! We are happy to announce that this will be the debut of Piper’s puppies. On August 23, 2008 they will be approximately 6 weeks old, so please come and greet these babies at this fun family friendly event.
If you’d like to make a donation but will be unable to attend, please send your check to NSC, PO Box 1505, Wheat Ridge, CO 80034. If you need to get your pet microchipped but cannot make the event, please email Ginger (ginger@NSCrescue.org) and let us know. We can provide microchipping services at another date and location at this low price if arrangements are made before August 23, 2008.
It’s a girl! It’s a boy! It’s 8 in all! Piper is a one and half year old medium sized heeler mix that was transferred to NSC in the last stages of her pregnancy. We’re excited to announce that Piper gave birth to her litter early on July 17th – 6 girls and 2 boys. It’s too hard to tell at the moment what they might be a mix of, however all are doing great!
Denver County Animal Control found Piper roaming a neighborhood in early June. Her owners decided that rather than do the responsible thing and get her, that they would just leave her at the pound. Poor Piper. It wasn't until a month later (when her time was just about up) that Animal Control realized she was quite pregnant – which is when they gave NSC a call. Piper is such a happy and trusting dog it's hard to believe anyone would abandon her. Because she will need to be with her pups for several more weeks we are really looking for a foster home for Piper at present. We would like to see her and the litter move into a home environment until the babies can be weaned. Additionally, if you would be interested in one of Piper's puppies, please contact Ginger about filling out an application and getting your name in early. Piper's puppies will be $235 to adopt an will be ready to go around September 7th at 8 weeks old. The adoption fee includes training classes as well as a voucher for spay/neuter surgery for when they reach 6 months. Please check back often for photos and updates of Piper and her litter.
A huge thanks to all our volunteers that turned out for the 2nd Annual NSC garage sale. While the weather was hot, these supporters stayed tough and with their help we were able to raise a significant amount of mid-season funds to help assist in the care of our shelter dogs. In particular the medical costs associated with some of our more recent rescues was substantial and contributions like this make it possible for us to accept animals that other shelters might pass on. We appreciate all the items donated and those who came and purchased or just swung by to say hello.
